There are always new designs as there is always new and ever growing trash. SAPU make products, art and messages from inner tubes, drink bottles, used oil drums, container belts, army tents, 2nd, 3rd hand clothing … anything that can be turned into something useful and stylish.
We have a good network of rubbish collectors and waste suppliers in Java and they help us sorting the right materials for us. We buy the inner tube waste from our regular supplier in Central Java, they collect the tubes from all over the place and sort them out for us. We buy used metal drums from another regular supplier in Central Java, container belts from East Java, and the local army supplies their broken tents to us.
Made by hand, not by machine, and typically therefore of superior quality. Each of the handmade things is a unique and a one of a kind. There are not two handmade items that are the same, which makes each item a special object. Crafty hands are behind each object fabrication process, from the design sketches till the wrapping and shipping.
